Triple Crown of Polo Debuts at San Diego Polo Club in 2008

Second leg of Championship Series moves to new West Coast market

San Diego, CA --- David McLane, President of the Triple Crown of Polo announced today that the second leg of the ESPN-televised Championship Series in 2008 will be played at the San Diego Polo Club in September.

"We are very excited about the prospect of introducing the Triple Crown of Polo to a new west coast market," said McLane. "We believe the San Diego Polo Club has the components to help us build an audience for polo and the Triple Crown of Polo and it is fantastic to be able to showcase our event in the world-renowned city of San Diego."

In 2007 the Triple Crown of Polo was played at the Sarasota Polo Club, the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club and, for the first time, at the New Bridge Polo and Country Club in Aiken, SC. San Diego will replace Santa Barbara as the second leg in 2008. "We have had three wonderful years in Santa Barbara," said McLane. "We could not have had the success we have had there, without the support of Ambassador Glen Holden and the wonderful fans of polo in that area."

The Triple Crown of Polo continues to build as a the most widely-televised polo tournament worldwide with shows airing on ESPN 2 and reaching 196 countries in 12 different languages via ESPN International. The next show airs Sunday, October 7 at 3pm ET (noon PCT) on ESPN 2 – a two-hour special featuring the 2007 Santa Barbara tournament and the third leg of the Triple Crown of Polo that recently concluded in Aiken.

Positioned just north of downtown San Diego and almost adjacent to the world famous Del Mar Race Track, the San Diego Polo Club captures the essence of the playground for the affluent outdoor lifestyle enthusiast. "We are delighted to be able to host the Triple Crown of Polo Championship Series in 2008," said Chris Maloney, President of the San Diego Polo Club. "Polo is growing here in San Diego and we believe strongly in the opportunity the Triple Crown of Polo provides our club and surrounding communities."

McLane is confident that the City of San Diego and local community will embrace the arrival of the Triple Crown of Polo. "We have learned from experience in Aiken that when a community truly comes on board and welcomes the Triple Crown of Polo, great things can be achieved in promoting the sport. We are anticipating the same positive response and results in our new west coast home of San Diego."
